Still my largest project to date, The Bull, larger than life size made from solid Oak. Fred a lifetime cattleman and breeder, commissioned me to create a replica of his Limousin Bull, during the construction the pale of the Oak reminded Fred of the first bull be bought a Charolais and so the decision was made to change the breed. The Charolais are white, however this bull was a lot longer than the Limousin one we measured. So we had to install a section of Oak into the middle, extending it to the desired length, not an easy thing to do! The main challenge of this project was the sheer size and weight of the wood, impossible to move by myself, luckily Fred’s farm machinery came in critical to the process, lifting, moving etc. Once completed Fred threw a huge party to celebrate, serving steak appropriately! The Bull is known locally as the ‘Beast from the East’ as a lot of the carving was done when the storm hit in 2018.
